Biden’s Neutrality on Israel-Palestine Conflict is Damaging his Standing Among the Voters

In the absence of a proper response from the Biden’s administration to Israel-Palestine conflict, the people of America have taken to streets in order to show their solidarity with the Palestinian people. At the same time, Biden’s credibility among his voter base is decreasing at an alarming rate.

In major cities across the United States of America perhaps for the first time in history there are protests across the streets after Israel’s yesterday strike which resulted in the death of countless. Americans, perhaps known as the most staunch supporters of Israel throughout these years, have been marching down from the West Coast to the East Coast in order to show their solidarity with the plight of Palestinians. The so-called “al-Nakba”, the day of the catastrophe, garnered more attention this year than the Jerusalem Day, once again a first in US history.

One of the biggest gatherings was in the US most important state. The state of California and its capital Sacramento hosted a huge crowd holding placards and signs in defence of the Palestinians. Down in Philadelphia, on the very steps of Philadelphia Museum of Art hundreds if not a thousand demonstrators staged a sit-in. In Dallas, Chicago, Washington DC, New York and other states all across the country there were demonstrations happening and this time around there was no way for the right-wing media and Fox News to circumvent what’s been going on the streets. Unfortunately, this political climate is slowly turning into Biden’s worst political nightmare.

There is little to no doubt that Biden’s victory was a response to Donald Trump’s era. The Democratic boy scout came into power with the promise of restoring dignity to the US and yet it was more of a tactic to address domestic issues created by his predecessor’s incompetence. As far as the foreign policy went, Biden was hoping to normalize the abnormal legacy of Trump with regards to US main targets such as China or Russia but he would have never imagined to be roped into something that was believed to be Donald Trump’s only diplomatic achievement; Restoring US relations with Israel which was believed to have been harmed during Obama’s tenure.

Biden nevertheless was a leftist and running on the ticket of restoring belief in law which was supposed to extend to his foreign policy as well. When the time came however, Biden’s administration showed an unbelievable aversion to the idea of speaking for the underdog, Palestine, and instead condemned Hamas’s actions. That attitude has continued up to this very day and in spite of the unprecedented public support for the Palestinian cause, Biden’s administration is still adamant in his decision, preferring silence to the ideals he vowed to uphold.

According to the Palestinian health ministry more than 50 innocent civilians have been killed just in the span of last 24 hours. Throughout the whole week the number of the Palestinian dead amounts to more than 200 with more than 60 of them being children. To make matters worse, there are more than 1400 injured many of which are currently hospitalized, some in worsening conditions. As expected, the vast majority are Palestinians and same as always there’s no centralised government to push for their voices to be heard. Fortunately, the marvels of social media made it very hard for the people to ignore what’s been happening there, regardless of their location or political affiliation. The first signs of change are now visible in America. Nonetheless, Biden still prefers to support his old allies at the cost of his credibility in the eyes of his voters. Could this be the bane of his administration? Guess time will tell us everything.
