Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps reported today that Hamas had verified the death of its leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Iran. Israel is responsible for the assassination according to Hamas.
After Hamas attacked Israeli northern cities on October 7, Tel Aviv had pledged to murder Haniyeh and other Hamas commanders. An inquiry for response from an Israeli defense official was not readily answered. When its spy organization, Mossad, conducts killings, Israel frequently does not make a reaction.
According to Hamas, Haniyeh took part in the inauguration of Iranian new president before being assassinated in a Zionist bombing in Iranian capital. Hamas statement explains that the group ” declares to the great Palestinian people and the people of the Arab and Islamic nations and all the free people of the world, brother leader Ismail Haniyeh a martyr,” the statement said.
The organization cited Haniyeh in another statement, stating that “we are ready for the costs: martyrdom for the sake of Palestine, for the sake of God Almighty, and for the sake of the dignity of this nation.”
Calls for more information were not quickly answered by Hamas representatives. 2019 saw Haniyeh leave the Gaza Strip, where he had been living in Doha. Yehya Sinwar is the chief Hamas figure in Gaza and was the planner of the last year’s attacks.
Haniyeh’s children and grandchildren, totally seven, were slain in an Israeli assault in Gaza three months ago. In the midst of continuing cease-fire talks with Israel, Haniyeh stated that the assassinations would not put a strain on Hamas to change its stance.
