In the early hours of Wednesday, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed by unknown sources in Tehran. Hamas confirmed the assassination blaming Israel for the attack in which a guard was also killed. A day earlier, Haniyeh attended Iranian presidential inauguration.
Hamas leader was based in Qatar, a country that has mediated the Gaza war, before getting assassinated in Iran. After leaving Gaza due to a forced exile, Hamas leader resided in Turkey for a short period. The murder was described as a horrible act and a disgraceful murder by Qatar’s foreign minister.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) was informed by the ministry that the action in Tehran constituted a risky escalation. Additionally, it was called a blatant disregard for moral and global laws.
“The prospects of peace in the area will be undermined by this terror and the irresponsible Israeli behavior of constantly striking civilians in Gaza.”
Turkey also joined the international campaign in criticizing Israel. Ankara issued a statement in which it declared that it denounces the heinous killing in Iranian capital of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas leader.
Ankara claims that the strike also intends to expand the scope of the Gaza conflict to a regional level. It clarified that the Israeli administration has repeatedly demonstrated that it has no plans to bring about peace in Gaza and the whole region. “Our region will face much larger conflicts if the international community does not take action to stop Israel.
