World leaders sent congratulatory messages to Masoud Pezeshkian after he won the office of presidency in Iran’s runoff election this Saturday.
A few hours after reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian was announced the winner the office of presidency in Iran’s runoff election this Saturday, leaders, kings, presidents, and prime ministers from all across the world sent their congratulations to him and the Iranian people.
The President of China
Chinese President Xi Jinping was among the first leaders who congratulated the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran’s president.
Emir of Kuwait
Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory in the 14th presidential election of Iran.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan
Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, wrote in a message to Iran’s president-elect and expressed his “most sincere congratulations to my brother Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian for winning the presidential elections of Iran.”
“I look forward to working closely with the President-elect to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations and promote peace and stability in the region,” Sharif also wrote.
Putin’s congratulatory message to Pezeshkian
The Kremlin Palace announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as Iran’s president.
Bashar Al-Assad, the president of Syria
Bashar Assad, the president of Syria, also congratulated the Iranian nation and the government of Iran on the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as the new president and wished him success.
“We will work together to strengthen the strategic relations between the two countries and open new promising horizons for cooperation between us,” Assad wrote in his message to Iran.
Azerbaijan President Aliyev
Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, congratulated Pezeshkian’s presidency in Iran and said: “I wish you my best wishes, my friend and brother, and success in future activities for the welfare of the Iranian people.”
Aliyev also invited Pezeshkian to travel to Azerbaijan “in order to exchange views on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.”
The president of Iraq
In a message on his X, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, the president of Iraq, congratulated Pezeshkian and the Iranian government on the election of the new president.
Rashid also congratulated Iran on the successful holding of the presidential elections and informed about his country’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Iran in line with the interests of the two neighboring countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela
Ivan Gil, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, also congratulated the successful holding of the 14th presidential election of Iran and the victory of Masoud Pezeshkian.
The King and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia
King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia also congratulated Pezeshkian on his election as the president of Iran.
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan issued a short statement Saturday and congratulated Pezeshkian’s presidency.
“We look forward to strengthen talks with the new Iranian government under the presidency of Dr. Pezeshkian and we hope that Iran will play a constructive role in de-escalating tension and stabilizing the situation in the Middle East under the new president,” the statement also said.
