In justifying this vote, the spokesperson of the Iraqi government announced that: “agreeing to the anti-Israeli resolution in the UN General Assembly does not mean recognizing the Israeli regime, but we disagree with some of its clauses.” Bassem Al-Awadi also stated in this regard that “Iraq’s initial abstention vote against the anti-Israel resolution in the General Assembly was “completely natural” because the law “criminalizing the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime” approved by our parliament is a positive vote of the government. Iraq prevents any issue that is based on the formation of two states (Israel and Palestine). In this resolution, clauses about the “formation of two states” have been compiled, which Iraq does not agree with and has reservations about.
8- Iran
Nasser Kanani, the spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, supported Palestine and described the Palestinian resistance as a natural reaction to Israel’s recent provocations in ignoring the basic rights of the Palestinian people.
