An Israeli airstrike on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the constricted Gaza Strip resulted in at least 500 fatalities. The hospital explosion, according to the Gazan health ministry, was brought on by an Israeli airstrike. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) armed organization’s misfired missile, claimed Israel, is behind the massive blast. The claim has been refuted by the PIJ.
The number of fatalities in this particular episode in Gaza during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas is by far the largest. The government said there were still hundreds of victims buried beneath the debris.
According to Hamas, the bomb primarily killed displaced persons. Israel was accused of committing “a massacre” by Mai Alkaila, the health minister for the Palestinian Authority.
The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem manages the targeted hospital, which is situated in the heart of Gaza. It was attacked as it was being overrun by tens of thousands of Palestinians looking for safety. A campaign of savage airstrikes from Tel Aviv has begun over major parts of the beleaguered Gaza Strip.
“An analysis of IDF [Israel’s army] operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed in a post on X.
In response, the PIJ asserted in a statement that “the Zionist enemy is trying hard to evade its responsibility for the brutal massacre he committed by bombing the Baptist Arab National Hospital in Gaza through his usual fabrication of lies, and through pointing the finger of blame at the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine.”
While the reality of the blast is yet to be clarified, there is a major point that may signal the truth. A major part of reporters and observers believe that the destruction power of the explosion is indicative of the fact that it has been an Israeli missile. Hamas rockets lack such an explosive intensity.
