Yemeni Houthis launch another retaliatory drone strike against Saudi Aramco, vowing to never lay down arms as long as the Saudi “aggression” continues
It has nearly been six years since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched an unjustifiable attack against Yemeni uprising and ever since then neither side has had the upper hand over that of the other. The most powerful and technologically advanced army in the Middle-East was caught in a death trap out of which there seems to be no escape other than accepting the people’s will and fighting against their best interests.
Saudi news agencies have reported that yet another drone controlled by Yemeni Houthis targeted state-sponsored oil refineries belonging to Saudi Aramco in the capital Riyadh. According to the ministry of energy, the Yemeni rebels used six drones for their attack which led to some explosions that caused the fire which was finally extinguished just hours ago. Interestingly enough the attacks didn’t disrupt the flow of oil nor did they pose any danger to the human lives that were there. Furthermore, there have been no reports out of Saudi Arabia that might indicate which parts of the facility have been targeted.
Hours ago, Yahya Sarea, one of the Houthis spokesmen, said that “[Our] armed forces carried out at dawn today an operation… with six drones which targeted the Aramco company in the capital of the Saudi enemy, Riyadh”. Speaking on the behalf of his group, Sarea warned Saudi Arabian authorities that operations as such with potentially far more devastating effects are bound to continue as long as the Saudis “aggression” continues to go on uninterrupted.
Though Saudi state media might like to attribute that kind of result to their opponents’ imprecise targeting and age-old military tech, those outside of that sphere have another explanation. These people are of the mind that quite against the popular belief, Yemeni Houthis have indeed have access to that kind of advanced weaponry which is obviously capable of evading Saudi advance radars. The reason for their self-restraint mayhap lies in the fact that Houthis, unlike the monstrous portrayal of the Saudi backed media, do actually seek to end this game once and for all. So instead of prolonging this war by taking effective actions, they’ve instead resorted to such tactics so as to give them the signal.
In spite of the hand being extended to them, Saudis have not only rejected Houthis’ peace offer, now they’ve taken things a step further by trying to paint them as the world’s energy boogeymen. Nowadays Saudis are saying that Houthi operations as such proposes a direct threat to the stability of the world’s energy. They’ve insisted that a coalition must be put together so as to put this matter to rest but since it is obvious who’s responsible for the mess in Yemen, no country has expressed interest in Saudis plan. Additionally, Houthis themselves have issued separate warnings, asking foreign entities to keep clear of Saudi assets which might come under their attack at any moment.
The situation in Yemen has been described as the worst humanitarian crisis at the current time with more people dying as a result of hunger and disease than live ammunition. On top of that there are constant threats of being bombed because of Saudi Arabia’s occasional air raids which have left hundreds homeless or dead even. Since the start of the war more than 12,000 civilians have died and those numbers are only growing by the minute. It is perhaps the time for the international community to intervene and prevent yet another cataclysm, cause so far it appears that the people in the White House are more concerned about their partners than the values they claim to uphold.
