In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly this Tuesday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that the project of ‘Americanizing the world’ has failed and that a new international order has irreversibly emerged, where the US is no longer a superpower.
During the annual premier conference of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly, Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi, delivered a lengthy speech, mostly elaborating on the US hostility towards Iran and the failure of Washington in its efforts to what he described as ‘Americanizing the world”.
Starting his speech by speaking of the Quran while holding the holy book in his hand, the Iranian president said that the Quran speaks of equality among humans, encourages serving those less fortunate, and forbids all forms of violence in human interaction”.
Addressing the recent Quran burnings in some European countries, Raisi called upon all nations to respect the world religions and noted that “the fires of disrespect will not overcome the divine truth in the Quran.”
Raisi also spoke of the war against the framework of the family, which is a fundamental pillar supporting human development, and called upon all religious leaders to fulfill their historical responsibility to defend the sanctity of the family and on the United Nations to do its part in this regard and properly protect the family framework all around the world.
The US is the source of much of the world’s problems, Raisi connoted
Speaking of world politics, Raisi first addressed the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and accused Washington of adding fuel to the already huge fire of the flames of violence in Ukraine.
Denying any allegations regarding Iran’s export of drones to Russia during the war with Ukraine, the Iranian president asserted that any Iranian-made drones hitting Ukrainian cities had been sold before the war started and said he was in favor of peace negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
“On Ukraine, Iran does not support any war — neither in Europe nor anywhere else — and that it supports any initiative aimed towards the cessation of hostilities,” Raisi said.
For months, Western countries, especially the United States have been accusing Iran of sending Russia drones to attack Ukrainian cities. Raisi also blamed the United States for what he called “the US intelligence efforts to topple the Islamic Republic”, referring the last year’s protests in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini.
Speaking of Washington and Israel’s most-heard accusation against Tehran, Raisi asserted that nuclear weapons have no place in his country’s defensive or military doctrines, but he also stressed that Iran “will never fall short” of obtaining its inherent right to peaceful nuclear energy.
Raisi added that the United States’ use of sanctions has not yielded the desired result, calling on that country to “cease traveling on the wrong path”. Reiterating that humanity is entering a new framework, he said that while old Powers will continue their trajectory “they represent the past, and we are the future”.
Last but not least, Iran’s president said in front of the world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly that the world is changing and the US efforts to Americanize the world are now but a failure. “The world is transitioning into a novel international order and the project to Americanize the world has failed,” he said, adding that the West was “facing a crisis of identity and functionality and sees the world as a forest and itself as a beautiful garden.”
The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78) is taking place at the UN headquarters in New York from 18-22 September and many other world leaders from UN member states will deliver their speeches in the abovementioned time period.
