Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid stated explicitly in his address to global leaders on Thursday that he was in favor of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian issue, stating that this was even the most beneficial option for the State of Israel and the future of Israeli children.
Lapid stressed that the majority of Israelis favor this resolution and declared that he is one of them, saying, “An arrangement with the Palestinians, based on two States for two peoples, is the correct thing for Israel’s security, for Israel’s economy, and for the future of our children.”
Most powerful international leaders, including US President Joe Biden and members of his cabinet, praised this proclamation. Biden tweeted, “I applaud @IsraeliPM Lapid’s bold comments at the UN General Assembly.
Although it received heavy criticism in Israel, several authorities, like Meretz Chief Zehava Galon, described Lapid’s comments as “historic.” She stated on Twitter: “The goal of peace is finally on the agenda. must halt the cycle of slaughter, the occupation of millions of Palestinians, and decades of suffering and loss on all sides.”
Let’s examine Lapid’s demands for a two-state solution in isolation from the heavy criticism that Lapid’s government and the opposition have leveled at the majority of Israeli officials to determine whether he was sincere or merely spreading falsehoods to attribute the Palestinians’ ongoing suffering to the occupation State of Israel.
More of an Illusion
It appears that neither the Israelis, who criticized Lapid, nor the foreign leaders who applauded his announcement made any attempt to look into Lapid’s proposed two-state solution. Lapid’s idea of a two-state solution is nothing more than a farce.
Lapid described his vision as follows: “The Palestinian State of the future will be tranquil. that it won’t develop into another terrorist stronghold from which to put Israel’s security and very existence in danger. that we will be able to safeguard the safety of all Israeli citizens at all times, ” pointing to Israel’s nominal withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005, he claimed that the response to his country has been over 20,000 rockets, not peace.
Lapid added that he was prepared to remove all limitations on the Gaza Strip and assist in boosting its economy, subject to Hamas and Islamic Jihad “stopping firing rockets and missiles at [Israeli] children, laying down their weapons, releasing Israeli prisoners, and ensuring that they will not be in control of the coastal enclave.”
I’m not requesting information from Lapid about the identity of the terrorist or which group exports terror throughout the entire world, not just to the area. He must tell me who is attacking who. Who produces the most devastating and potent weapons and has access to the most advanced weaponry in the world—the folks who manufacture their ineffectual weapons from really rudimentary materials, or the other group?
I hope Lapid provides the world leaders who listened to him at the UN General Assembly with the answers to these queries.
Lapid is an extremely effective propagandist because he has the ability to deliver a sermon about a peace proposal that could cause world leaders to sob, believing that he is speaking for a nation that has suffered greatly at the hands of another nation and is forgiving them and making a peaceful proposal to end their own suffering.
No, the reality is that Israel occupies another country’s territory without authorization. All components of the truth were absent from Lapid’s speech to the General Assembly and his vision for world peace.
