Iranian military drills ate southern sea borders ended with firing numerous ballistic missiles. Iranian military officials openly called Israel as the message receiver threatening Israel with hard force in case of any military adventure.
At the end of five-day of military exercises, Iranian IRGC fired 16 surface-to-surface ballistic missiles. IRGC is the major section of the country’s military forces. The commanders indicated that the ballistic missiles were a message to Israel as its traditional regional threat.
Emad, Ghadr, Sejjil, Zalzal, Dezful, and Zolfaghar were the missiles fired during the military drills. Their ranges of the missiles extend from 320 miles to 1,250 miles.
The local reports say that the missile test was successful with all missile hitting the targets according to the time. These exercises were designed to respond to threats made in recent days by the Zionist regime,” Iranian chief of armed forces told local media.
“Sixteen missiles aimed and annihilated the chosen target. In this exercise, part of the hundreds of Iranian missiles capable of destroying a country that dared to attack Iran were deployed.”
The “Grand Prophet” military exercises started on Monday in southern regions of Iran. Multiple provinces with sea borders including Hormozgan and Khuzestan were involved in the Iranian military drills.
IRGC chief openly said that the military drills are directed at Israeli policies and its potential adventures against Iran. Salami further noted that Israeli officials must have gotten the message and a minor mistake may result in major consequences.
The Iranian military exercises follow a meeting between US national security advisor and Israeli Prime Minister. Israel’s resistance against attempts to resurrect the nuclear agreement was the focal point of the meeting. The two sides also asserted that there are other alternatives to the agreement if Iran continues to expand military programs.
Iranian Military Drills; Iran’s Alternative Option
Naftali Bennett has charged Iran with “nuclear blackmail,” alleging that income from sanctions removal will arm Iran to attack Israel. Israeli high-rank officials have also suggested about launching an attack on Iran.
Iran maintains it only means to pursue a civil nuclear program, but Western governments believe its uranium stockpiles may be used to build a nuclear bomb. Former US President unilaterally withdrew the United States from the original JCOPA and re-imposed harsh sanctions on Tehran. Iran has subsequently begun uranium enrichment to 60% level, a technical stage behind the 90% required to create an atomic weapon.
In the past three years, following Trump’s abrupt violation of JCPOA, Tel Aviv posed several threats against Iranian positions. The threats ranged from security espionage to sabotage attempts and, cyber warfare.
Tehran has reacted in multiple ways proportionate to Tel Aviv’s moves. Iran, nevertheless, avoided direct face-off with Israel based on its regional interests.
In contrast, the recent military drills and the outspoken remarks about the target shows Iran’s decisiveness over future potential adventures. Iranian missile can easily reach and target Israeli soils from east to west.
The escalation occurs in a condition that Iran and western powers are gearing up to start the eighth round of nuclear negotiations. Tehran’s recent move to facilitate surveillance at Karaj nuclear facility proved a positive signal from the talks.
Iranian military drills, as such, are a counter step to the recent reiteration of western alternatives to an agreement. The US, Israel, and some European countries repeatedly refer to military option to forbid Iran from further military advancement.
Military drills with open reference to Israel as the target is Iran’s response to the threatening remarks. Israeli is the main western ally in the region, while in Tehran’s direct access.
