According to an announcement released on Wednesday by the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR) General Staff, Rabat and Doha are looking to increase their military collaboration. General Hamad Bin Ali Al Attiyah, the Qatari Emir’s counselor for security issues, was met in Rabat by the Inspector Chief of the Royal Armed Forces and Chief of the Southern Region.
King Mohammed VI, the Supreme Commander of the FAR, ordered the event to take place. Representatives of the Qatari team were present, as was the representative of Qatar to Moroccan capital.
The delegates showed the “amiable and brotherly relationships between the Royal Armed Forces and their Qatari colleagues,” according to a statement from the FAR. Genuine reverence, confidence, and a common resolve to fortify these relationships going forward are what define the relationships.
The extension of Moroccan-Qatari defense relations was another topic of conversation. Doha and Rabat have already had cordial diplomatic relations. They expand collaboration across the board, notably in the area of defense.
Both nations’ strong bilateral ties are demonstrated in a number of ways. The two nations reaffirm their commitment to protecting one another’s territorial sovereignty. By sharing its knowledge with the Gulf nation, Morocco helped make the 2022 World Cup an accomplishment.
Morocco and Qatar issued a joint declaration in October 2022, according to an article by beIN Sports. Prior to the international competition, the two parties agreed to strengthen their safety collaboration and information sharing. Doha also backed Morocco’s proposal for co-hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Spain.
There have been several visits to Rabat in relation to the FAR during the recent years. Both nations’ leaders visit each other frequently to talk about mutually beneficial relationships. To improve collaboration between the two nations, King Mohammed VI of Morocco and the Emir of Qatar spoke over the phone last month.
Significant progress has also been made in the two nations’ relationship when Morocco was selected as an affiliate for Qatar’s Years of Culture. Over 80 programs were held throughout the entire year in both nations as part of the campaign.
