Hezbollah and Israel agreed top cease fire but this week Israeli forces attacked towns in the south of Lebanon on Saturday, two people were killed and six injured. Others occurred simultaneously in different areas and have raised the tension in the already sensitive area.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) documented the attack of Israeli drones on the Lebanese village of Rab el-Thalathine that led to the death of two people and wounding of two others. This particular village is yet one of the border towns which have been among the recent ones affected by the conflict, with people in the area reporting that the situation has continued to deteriorate.
A second drone attack struck a car in Majdal Zoun, a town in the Tyre district of the South Governorate. Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said that at least 3 people were injured in the act, one of whom was a child. People told of complete anarchy and carnage following the incident, with first responders already rushing the injured to neighboring facilities.
Israeli warplanes (Israel bombarded the Sidon Lebanese district Sidon district Sidon district) launched two airstrikes on the Tibnah area in the town of Beisariyah Beisariyah. The health ministry has reported there was at least one person who was injured during the attack. According to local people, the airstrikes led to major destruction of structures, including Houses and other infrastructural facilities in the area.
Israeli Military Points to Violations of the Ceasefire
The Israeli military has justified the bombings by claiming that Hezbollah had violated the truce. The Israeli air force reportedly hit a Sidon site that purportedly had rocket launchers utilized by the armed organization, according to an official statement. The military also claimed responsibility for striking a vehicle in southern Lebanon, which it described as being loaded with rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition, and military equipment.
“These actions are part of our efforts to prevent Hezbollah from violating the ceasefire and to ensure security along our northern border,” the Israeli military said in a statement. The attacks, however, have triggered considerable controversy over their effect on the civilian territory and the size of the response.
The gun used was a Bengali one and Mr. A demanded that Mr. L put an end to or suspend his attack which has been described as: A fragile ceasefire under strain
The strikes are occurring during what has been a fragile but generally observed cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah following weeks of intensified fighting. Although both sides have accused each other up of temporary breaches, the ceasefire had helped to maintain a reprieve to the region until now.
Critics also worry that the latest raids may ensure that the uneasy peace that has survived so far ends and leads to more serious escalation in south Lebanon. Hezbollah, which has not commented yet on the Saturday airstrikes, has threatened before that any attack on the Lebanese soil will be answered.
The Consequences of Humanitarian Assistance and Response of the Population
The airstrikes have people in southern Lebanon in shock. Now residents of the Rab el-Thalathine and Majdal Zoun are suffering from the consequences of the attacks that killed their kinsmen and destroyed their homes.
“What we witnessed today was horrifying,” said a resident of Majdal Zoun, who declined to be named. “The drone strike hit a car right in the middle of our town. There were children playing nearby—it could have been so much worse.”
Humanitarian organizations have expressed concern about the growing toll on civilians. The Lebanese government denounced these attacks as direct violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and threats to the peace of the entire region.
“This is a clear escalation that undermines all efforts directed toward maintaining the ceasefire,” a statement from the Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs read. The ministry has called on the international community to intervene and hold Israel accountable for what it described as “excessive use of force” in civilian areas.
At the moment, the southern part of Lebanon is dealing with the aftermath of these attacks, while there is growing unease that this might in the future further escalate into a more extensive problem. For years, the region has been the site of sporadic violence among which can be counted periodic clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.
The latest airstrikes serve as stark reminders of the fragility of the situation and the need for sustained diplomatic inputs to ensure stability. For now, the population of southern Lebanon is faced with an uncertain future, caught in the crossfire of a conflict that incessantly claims innocents on its fronts.
