The results of a new poll in Israel revealed that more than half of Israelis are in favor of reaching an agreement to end the conflict in Lebanon.
A recent poll by Israel’s Channel 12 showed that 54% of Israelis support a peace agreement to end the conflict in Lebanon, while 24% oppose it.
The survey, published on November 23, also highlighted significant discontent with the government’s handling of the crisis, with 64% of respondents expressing distrust in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his leadership. Only 30% backed him.
Furthermore, 79% of participants advocated for a commission to investigate the October 7, 2023 attacks and hold government officials accountable, while 8% were opposed. When asked about leadership preferences, Netanyahu had a slim lead with 38% support, compared to 28% for Yair Lapid and 29% for Benny Gantz. However, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was more popular, receiving 38% compared to Netanyahu’s 34%.
US Jewish teens sympathize with Hamas
In a separate poll, 42% of Jewish teenagers in the United States believe the Israeli army committed genocide in Gaza, according to a study by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs. This disturbing trend is compounded by the fact that 37% of American Jewish teens express sympathy for Hamas, a figure that rises to 60% among 14-year-olds.
Even among teens with strong Jewish educational backgrounds, 6% expressed support for Hamas. Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli called the findings alarming, stressing the need to strengthen ties between Jewish youth in the Diaspora and Israel.
