Israel Brigadier General Elias Hanna, a military and strategic expert, has asserted that Israel is hiding the actual death toll of its soldiers, along with the details surrounding their deaths, including the locations, circumstances, and timing.
In his assessment of the military situation in southern Lebanon, Hanna explained that the discrepancies between the figures reported by the Israeli army and those claimed by Hezbollah can be attributed to the tactics employed by the Israeli forces.
According to the latest report published this Tuesday by the Israeli military, 793 soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war in October last year. The data also revealed that 192 Israeli officers have been killed, indicating that one in four killed officers was a commander.
“Among the killed are 67 platoon commanders, 63 company commanders, 20 deputy company commanders, 7 battalion deputy commanders, 5 battalion commanders, and 4 brigade commanders. Of the total fatalities, 48% were conscripts, 18% served in “permanent service”, and 34% were reservists,” the report also noted.
Hanna, however, questioned these figures and said that the Israeli media recently reported the deaths of 7 soldiers after a building collapsed in a southern Lebanese village last week. However, the actual number was 21, according to the Israeli official.
