Israeli Sources confirmed reports that a rocket assault on a football field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights has resulted in at least 9 fatalities and several injuries. It is thought that youngsters and teens make up the majority of the victims.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, a rocket descended into the Majdal Shams region of the Golan Heights. Hezbollah was indicted by the IDF for the terrorist assault. However, Mohamad Afif, a spokesperson for Hezbollah, refuted any connection to the Majdal Shams incident: “Any allegation [of the group’s involvement] is false.”
Confrontations between the Israeli army and Hezbollah intensified after the Israel started attack against Gaza last October. The fresh attack has been the bloodiest in the region since then. Israel’s foreign minister took to local television to assert that the nation is engaged in a full-scale conflict.
Few days earlier, four people were killed in an Israeli assault against Lebanese assets. In reaction, Hezbollah launched missiles, although it denied being part of the assault on Majdal Shams.
Confirmed footage displays a large crowd on a football field along with stretchers being hurried to emergency vehicles. There are around 25,000 Druze community living in Majdal Shams, one among other Israeli villages of the region.
Concerns over the escalations of violence in the region surmounted recently with the fire exchange between Israel and Yemen. Lebanon could add another front the Israeli war campaign in the region.
