Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian will hold the first presidential debate from the run-off round this Monday night.
With none of the four Presidential candidates being able to get the absolute majority of votes this past Friday, two remaining hopefuls, Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian, will hold the first debate from the run-off round this Monday night on Iran’s national TV.
A spokesperson for Iran’s election headquarters said in a statement on Monday morning that this round of debates between the two candidates “will be held more seriously and more effectively.”
He also said that in this face-to-face debate, the questions are more direct and the time to answer the questions are shorter “so that people can hear from the candidates in a short time and have a better comparison.”
“The question-and-answer section of the candidates will be a maximum of 90 minutes and the candidates will be asked 10 questions mostly on political and cultural issues,” the spokesperson further noted, adding that in total, each candidate will have 1 hour time to express his policies, ideas, and plans on the aforementioned areas. The debate will be broadcast live this Monday night from 21:30 to 23:30 local time.
Iran’s state media, IRNA, also reported the time schedule for the remaining debates before the election day on this coming Friday and noted that “each candidate will make a 30-minute live speech on Wednesday evening. They will also hold one more live debate on Tuesday night, taking questions from a presenter and experts. The remaining programs include two documentaries about each of the hopefuls, each running for half an hour.”
