Iranian leader has addressed pilgrims starting the Hajj journey and emphasized the uplifting and uniting aspects of Islamic rites. During the “Renunciation of the Polytheists” event as part of the ritual in Saudi Arabia, travelers heard the entire message recited out. Snippets of the statement were made available on the official website of the Iranian leadership.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated in his address that when one considers this spectacular congregation and the intricate Hajj practices, they serve as expressions of consolation and enhance the trust for Muslim community, despite their nature of alarm and anxiety for adversaries.
The Islamic tradition of Bara’at min-al-Mushrikeen, considered an essential component of the annual Hajj ritual, was also mentioned in the Leader’s speech.
“Brothers and sisters, bring your thoughts and actions closer and closer to the truths and luminous teachings of Hajj, and bring back to your homes a reformed identity infused with these lofty concepts. This is the valuable, real souvenir of your Hajj journey.”
One of the five fundamental principles of Islam is the Hajj pilgrimage, which takes place in Saudi Arabia city of Mecca and the adjacent territories over a period of five consecutive days. The 2024 yearly Hajj journey is occurring in the backdrop of the ominous and catastrophic conflict that’s been ongoing in Gaza for the last eight months. Israel’s ruthless violence initiative, supported by Western powers, has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced millions. Against the popular views in the region and the world, with the exception of some countries in the region, no state has shown considerable opposition to the incessant violence.
Iranian leader’s address was made in a condition that Saudi Arabia has always found it incompatible with the Hajj ritual considering it a political practice. Iranian leader, however, characterizes it as a human activism calling for the improvement of life condition and justice for the Muslim communities around the world.
