The vital contribution that civil society has in aiding the Palestinian cause is reaffirmed by the State of Qatar. From the beginning of Israel’s onslaught on the people of Gaza in October, 2023, and throughout Gaza’s rehabilitation, Doha has kept its end of the bargain.
In this context, it emphasized the aid and assistance it had given to Palestinian people. In collaboration with the Arab Republic of Egypt, Doha maintains to supply them on various scales.
This was said in an address by Qatari diplomatic representative to the Arab League and Envoy to Cairo. The comments were delivered by Tariq Ali Faraj addressing the follow-up round of the “Palestine and the Role of Civil Society” symposium in Egypt.
The envoy discussed the catastrophic circumstances brought on by the Israeli violent policies in his remarks. The Qatari official also decried the interruption of humanitarian organizations and the deaths of help workers.
Israeli offenses will always be terrible, he said. Israel is required under international agreements to safeguard inhabitants and aid efforts. Even individuals who work for social welfare organizations are nonetheless killed by Israel.
He pointed out that Doha offered the Palestinian nation aid in all kinds and still does. The nation’s humanitarian organizations in Gaza are the Qatari Red Crescent, Fund for Development, and Qatar’s Charity.

The approval of the UNSC Resolution 1860 was mentioned by Tariq Ali Faraj. The 2009 resolution demanded a swift truce in the Gaza Strip. Assistance and solidarity for Gaza are components of the so-called resolution. It called on nations to back up, rebuild, and aid the Palestinian nation in whatever way they can. The representative from Qatar said that his nation was the very initial Arab state to endorse and make a contribution to this resolution. Doha formed the Gaza Reconstruction Committee three years later to oversee and carry out initiatives in the enclave. It was intended to lessen the oppressive siege’s impact on the city. The objective included giving material help to poor families and aiding Gaza’s citizens through a variety of enterprises.
Additionally, Doha has set up its corporate headquarters in Gaza. Later, amid recent Israeli bombings on Gaza, the center was destroyed. Tariq Ali Faraj further underlined that the biggest storehouse for emergency assistance is located in Qatar. With gratitude to the General Secretary of the Arab League, the UN uses it to keep its provisions.
Additionally, he conveyed gratitude to the Egyptian state for their assistance and humanitarian endeavors. Cairo established hospitals for the Palestinian population and delivered assistance to them. He pointed out that Cairo had advocated for an Arab conference in favor of the Palestinian nation since 1946. It has not wavered in its opposition to the expulsion of the Palestinian inhabitants of their homeland.
He reiterated Qatar’s opposition to the Palestinians being displaced. It was stressed that they had the right to create an autonomous nation inside the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.
