His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment to developing its educational sector through the strategic development of its top academic institution, the University of Bahrain, during a major meeting held at Gudaibiya Palace today.
During discussions with Education Minister Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma and the university’s Board of Trustees, Prince Salman highlighted education’s fundamental role in empowering Bahraini citizens, whom he described as “the kingdom’s most valuable asset and the foundation of its future.”
“The Kingdom’s future is shaped by the determination and knowledge of its people, who drive its developmental aspirations forward,” stated Prince Salman, emphasizing the crucial link between educational excellence and national progress under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The Crown Prince expressly referred to the specific duty of University of Bahrain as the first national university in the country in stepping up qualitative improvements and the adoption of world-class academic practices. He emphasized the importance of aligning educational offerings with labor market demands to improve graduates’ competitiveness.
“As our leading national institution, University of Bahrain has a unique responsibility to pioneer education innovation,” noted the Crown Prince. He counseled university management to view all the trials being faced at the moment as avenues for growth and progress.
The meeting captured the bigger Bahraini strategy towards developing human capital through education. Educational development remains one of the highest priorities of the kingdom, emphasized Prince Salman, as it is considered among key ingredients for innovation and creativity that fuel national progress.
Prince Salman spelt out his vision for the future of the university while addressing the Board of Trustees by calling for continued modernization of academic programs while keeping a firm anchor to Bahraini cultural values and economic needs. In particular, he underscored the provision of different opportunities in education that would enable secondary school graduates to obtain higher education qualifications in fields responsive to emerging market demands.
The discussions also considered the idea of the task of the university in the development of creative and innovative thinking and research skills among the Bahraini youth. Crown Prince emphasized that knowledge and skill development for the citizen of Bahrain is key to sustaining the competitiveness of Bahrain in the light of globalization of trade.
