The Qatari mission in Syrian capital will open again this week. The Arab nation, whose representatives recently entered the country, have also named the new director of the diplomatic delegation.
After President Bashar al-Assad was overthrown, the delegation convened with the country’s transitional administration. A statement from Qatar’s foreign ministry confirmed that the country’s diplomatic office in the Syrian soils would resume operations on Tuesday.
The new person in charge of mission to Damascus is Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al-Sharif. Qatar withdrew the diplomats and shut down its embassy in Syria in 2011. At the beginning of the insurrection against the al-Assad regime, it progressively escalated into an armed conflict.
