In a television announcement today, Mohamed al-Bashir announced that he had been named caretaker prime minister of the Syrian administration in transition until March 1 next year. Rebel commander Mohamed al-Bashir declared he will serve as Syria’s temporary leader. The 41yo politician is a qualified engineer who graduated from the University of Idlib on Sharia law program.
Mohammed al-Bashir was named to lead a transitional administration by the Syrian opposition who are now in charge of Syria. According to official sources today, December 10, the transitional government will remain in office until March 1, 2025.
According to an announcement credited to Bashir, al-Bashir has been given the assignment of managing the transitional government until March 1 by the military’s top brass. He was named as the next prime minister of the country in the statement.
In a swift attack two days earlier, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham spearheaded the opposition forces to take control of Damascus and announced an end to former administration’s rule. President Bashar al-Assad was effectively overthrown by the siege and former president left the country to an unknown place.
Al-Bashir had headed what the rebels referred to as Salvation Government in Syria’s northwestern region in Idlib prior to being chosen for the new position. In the past, he also served as the development minister of that government.
The media was additionally informed by an insider in the Salvation Government’s governance division that Bashir will lead the transitional administration. In 2017, the Salvation Government was established in the Idlib stronghold to help those deprived of public amenities in the rebel-held region. The government had its own divisions, agencies courts, and security forces. Since then, it has been providing aid in Aleppo. When the opposition alliance launched their onslaught, the city was the initial significant one that slipped out of government control.
A day earlier, departing PM Mohammed al-Jalali and opposition leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, the leader of rebel alliance, convened to talk about the period of change. Al-Jalali, a former al-Assad official, has consented to hand over control to the Syrian Salvation Government, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Al-Jalali was cited as stating, “We are making efforts to make sure that the transition phase is swift and peaceful.”
