Qatar criticized Israel’s continuous crimes in Palestinian lands and its lack of respect for international standards. The country has suggested that the conflict be halted promptly by a universal use of influence on behalf of the international community. During the UNGA, Qatari envoy to the United Nations made the comment.
Sheikha Alya Ahmed Al Thani highlighted that Tel Aviv’s behaviors violate the 1949 Resolution 302 and the UN Charter. Israel’s offenses include assaulting the UN Relief and Works Agency and its contempt for major global decisions.
She called on the United Nations to effectively carry out its duties to back up the team of the refugee service. The only Arab nation to execute an extended partnership in favor of UNRWA is still Qatar. This year, the nation funds the UN Agency with more than $49 million.
Furthermore, the country made a commitment to assist the UNRWA strategically, diplomatically, and economically. Sheikha Alya reiterated her country’s continued solidarity with Palestinian people. She underlined commitment to the tenets of Arab Peace Initiative and the rules of international regulations. Having East Jerusalem as the capital, the idea secures the development of a separate and autonomous Palestinian nation.
She also conveyed the nation’s sincere admiration for UNRWA’s assistance with humanitarian issues. The dangers that its employees deal with when undertaking crucial duties were noted by the Qatari delegation. Following the start of Israel’s conflict in the Gaza Strip, Israel has massacred at least 235 UNRWA workers. October 7, 2023 marked the start of the conflict.
Over 43,000 Palestinian people have been murdered since the outset of the 11-month war. With scores of inhabitants missing, the true figure is estimated to be significantly larger.
It is thought that hundreds of people are trapped beneath the wreckage of their dwellings and constructions.
Israel’s Parliament’s proposal to forbid UNRWA services in Palestine was sharply criticized by Qatar. The country characterized it as a worrying model for global division. Qatar even alleged that it constituted an explicit assault on relief operations in the Gaza Strip.
Sheikha Alya attracted attention to Gaza’s terrible humanitarian circumstances. The transportation of vital assistance has been hampered by Israel’s continuous threats. She emphasized that there would be grave geopolitical and social implications if UNRWA faced the ban executed by Israel. Likewise, the approach hinders Palestinian people residing across their lands from enjoying basic amenities.
It could aggravate the Palestinian refugee issue and their global law-guaranteed entitlement to go back home. UNICEF estimates that the whole Gaza Strip was assigned an IPC Phase 4 condition during the last two months. Severe lack of food, serious nutritional deficiencies, and the possibility of perishing from starvation are all increasing at IPC 4. There are about 1.84 million individuals who suffer extreme shortages of food. Fatal malnutrition affects 660,000 individuals in IPC Phase 4 in Gaza while about 133,000 persons are in IPC Phase 5, bordering the death out of malnutrition.
