At the beginning of this month, several large-scale sympathy rallies were conducted in many Jordanian cities in favor of the people of Palestine and Lebanon, in opposition to Israeli violence against them.
In order to ask for the easing of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and the immediate entrance of aid into the Strip, the Free International Youth Movement in Jordan held a sympathy gathering in the street surrounding the US embassy in the Jordanian capital, Amman, where it declared a public strike on hunger.
In addition to denouncing the Arab and international reticence on the atrocities against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, the marchers declared their solidarity with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.
Activists demanded Gaza’s independence and denounced the tactics of the Israeli colonial authorities, which aim to uproot the people and subject residents in the northern Palestinian territory to a dire emergency situation. Throughout the rally, the hunger protesters made a vow and pledged themselves to the protest until the objectives of the strike are obtained, the organization’s declaration said.
As part of a number of scheduled actions to draw attention to the hunger protesters’ requests and urge civil rights organizations to join them, another rally was held on Saturday in front of the National Centre for Human Rights.
In addition to waving Jordanian and Palestinian flags and signs that read “The people are against normalization” and “The people want to drop the peace treaty with Israel,” community activists called for the abandonment of the Treaty of Shame with the lawbreakers of the conflict of a massacre.
Given that the United States and many other Western nations continue to back the Zionist adversary, those who spoke there, criticized the Arab silence over the massacre and famine of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the northern territories.
Chanting slogans such as: “America is it, America is the head of the serpent” , “America is the Great Satan” , “Terrorist America, colonial state” , “O Jordanian government, this is the popular will” , along with “There are no foreign bases on Jordanian soil”.
The attendees reaffirmed their backing for the choice of rebellion, applauded its commanders and martyrs, and urged for assistance and safety for the Palestinian people in order to reinforce their endurance.
The Israeli army has been conducting a criminal war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, with full backing from the United States. The conflict has left over 140,000 Palestinians dead or injured, the majority of whom were citizens, and over 10,000 missing, amid widespread destruction and starvation that has killed numerous of innocent kids in one of the world’s worst catastrophes for humanity.
