According to a report by Israel’s Haaretz, an attempt by the Israeli military to assassinate Hezbollah’s powerful leader, Hassan Nasrallah has failed.
The Israeli military said in a statement this Friday afternoon that it has struck Hezbollah’s headquarters in southern Beirut in an attempt to kill Hassan Nasrallah, the group’s powerful leader.
One Israeli official familiar with the matter told NBC News that the target of the attacks was Nasrallah, but it has not been confirmed if he has been killed or not.
Likewise, several reports from other news agencies across the world have not yet confirmed the death of Hezbollah’s leader in this Friday’s air attack in Beirut.
However, Israeli newspaper Haaretz confirmed that Nasrallah could come out alive from the assassination attempt. Additionally, Axios reported that several Hezbollah leaders were present at the headquarters during the strike, but that Nasrallah managed to somehow survive.
During Friday’s attacks, six loud explosions were heard across the Lebanese capital and vast plumes of smoke were visible from as far as Batroun, a city an hour’s drive away. According to the Lebanese health ministry, the attacks left two people dead and 76 more injured.
