According to authorized news channels, more than fourteen individuals have died in central Syria as a result of Israeli strikes. The strike on Sunday night triggered an explosion and caused significant damage near the city of Masyaf, in the Hama region, according to SANA, Syria’s official news agency. The five people dead and 19 injured previously reported are now up to 43, according to the latest.
A military source informed that at roughly 23:20 on Sunday night, the Israeli enemy launched an air assault from northwest Lebanon, targeting a number of defense installations in the central region of Syria. The source continued, their missile defense systems confronted the aggression’s rockets and shot down some of them, without offering any further information. Usually, the Israeli military stays silent about its actions in Syria.
According to two local intelligence sources, a significant military research facility for chemical weapons manufacture close to Masyaf has been targeted many times.According to a local health source cited by SANA, 43 individuals had been hurt during the strikes, some of them seriously. The victims, according to the head of Masyaf’s public hospital, were civilians.
Harsh Punishment
Israeli aircraft have often attacked Syria from Lebanon, most likely in an effort to avoid Syrian airspace, which is used by a number of regional and international troops, including US and Russian forces. Over the course of Syria’s 13-year civil war, Israel has conducted frequent airstrikes, primarily on locations associated with Iran.
The strike on Sunday occurs in the midst of escalating regional tensions, after the July killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The majority of the missiles were shot down by US and Israeli air defenses in the area, reducing the attack’s impact.
In response to the death of one of its top leaders in an Israeli airstrike, Hezbollah launched its own offensive against Israel on August 25. Israel claimed to have stopped the operation with a preliminary strike, but a Lebanese organization claimed to have targeted an Israeli security post close to Tel Aviv.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border clashes almost every day. Hezbollah claims that in order to assist the Palestinians in Gaza, where the current Israeli attack has resulted in the deaths of over 40,900 people, it is targeting military locations in northern Israel and the Golan Heights, which Syria has seized.
Israeli leaders have pledged to drive Hezbollah from their border, including through all-out war if necessary, while the Lebanese organization has committed to continuing its armed activities until the end of the conflict in Gaza.
