On Sunday, the official investigative report on the catastrophic helicopter accident that killed Iranian President, the Foreign Minister and the other accompanying people was released. According to the study, the disaster was mostly caused by complicated climatic circumstances.
The investigation states that the helicopter struck a mountain when thick fog suddenly appeared on the flight path. Along with the other official passengers and the flight crew, Ebrahim Raisi and Amir-Abdollahian perished in the disaster.
Any chance that the helicopter was being attacked by military or aggressive technologies was eliminated by the study. Disruptions caused by laser-guided, magnetized or digital weapons were also disregarded. The absence of any indication of an outside assault on the helicopter was stressed in the final investigation.
Since the time the aircraft was purchased to the day it collapsed, the investigating team carefully reviewed every document pertaining to the aircraft. These records attested to the helicopter’s compliance with all requirements.
The study also said that for the previous four years, this aircraft had gone through routine technical checks, neither of which had found any issues. The inquiry verified that, prior to the disaster, the chopper flew as planned from Tabriz to the Qiz Qalasi Dam and returned to Tabriz Refinery. The co-pilot’s iPad was recovered and examined by specialists, who were successful to verify that the aircraft followed the intended course.
Moreover, the examination of the wreckage revealed no evidence of mechanical issues with the helicopter. The investigation also revealed that the aircraft’s team had not logged any urgent signals before to the collision. The crash‘s questionable aspects were not discovered during forensic investigations. The Headquarters of the Iranian military has earlier ruled out any security causes for Iranian President’s helicopter accident.
Initial Investigation
The Supreme Investigation Committee’s initial assessment was made public by the Iranian General Staff in May. The study verified that the aircraft struck a hillside and was set ablaze. The difficult environment, heavy fog, and extremely cold temperatures made it extremely difficult to carry out the search and rescue attempts, which didn’t end until five in the morning.
The findings from the concluded investigation are consistent with the initial research. It had indicated that President Raisi’s chopper did not deviate from its prearranged course. The flight crew of the aircraft maintained communication with the crews of the other aircrafts in the president’s squad.
The declaration went on to say that there were no signs that the chopper had been shot down or targeted. When Raisi’s helicopter crashed into the hillsides, it started burning.
The statement stated that because of the difficult terrain, fog, and severe conditions, rescue seek search efforts for the helicopter lasted until a day later.
