FIFA, the organization that oversees world soccer, has postponed its conclusion about a Palestinian bid on Israel once more. Due to the conflict in Gaza, Palestine has demanded that Israel be barred from playing soccer in international events.
FIFA announced that it will now take into account the October suggestions made by the Palestine Football Association (PFA) against the Israel Football Association (IFA). Four months ago, the Palestine Football Association had proposed suspending Israeli football. FIFA committed to handle the matter at a special council session two months later and requested an immediate legal assessment.
FIFA announced this month that its council will now have access to the legal study by August 31. The evaluation has now been rescheduled for October, according to the organization. “FIFA has received the independent legal assessment of the Palestine Football Association’s proposals against Israel,” the association said in an announcement.
According to FIFA, the evaluation will be forwarded to the FIFA Council for examination so that the topic may be covered at the council’s upcoming conference in October. The association refused to provide any information on the evaluation or the date of the event in October. Comment inquiries received no response from the PFA.
According to the Palestinian request, the IFA is involved in the Israeli administration’s breaches of international humanitarian codes. Other accusations brought up by PFA include prejudice against Arab athletes and the admission of teams based in Palestinian territories in its local tournament. The accusations have been denied by the Israeli Federation. According to the PFA, the conflict has claimed the lives of more than 92 Palestinian footballers.
According to PFA claims, Palestine’s football competitions have been stopped and the country’s infrastructure were completely damaged by Israeli strikes. In addition, the national team must travel overseas to host World Cup qualification matches. The PFA proposed that FIFA impose suitable punishment on teams and clubs from Israel and suspend all international engagements of the national team.
