Israel flights have been halted by a number of airlines from around the world. It was announced during the worst fighting between Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah, the Lebanese organization, since the outbreak of war in Gaza. All of British Airways’ flights having Israel on one side will be canceled through Wednesday, the airline announced on Sunday. Citing the existing circumstances, Jordan’s Royal Jordanian airline halted services to Lebanese capital on Sunday. Lufthansa announced two days prior to the critical condition in the Middle East that it will continue to suspend flights to Beirut until the end of September. The airline added that it will wait until September 2 to operate flights to Iran or Israel. Delta Air Lines, located in Atlanta, Georgia, said this week that it will prolong its flying ban to Israel until at least the end of October. Airline in the United States had issued a similar statement causing other airlines to review the condition.
Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv ceased services around for a couple of hours ahead of schedule on Sunday morning. Air attacks by Israeli troops on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon resulted in the forced divergence of inbound aircraft.
The Israeli military reported that it learned Hezbollah was getting ready to hit central Israel at five in the morning and used over a hundred planes to begin the strikes. Hezbollah claimed to have crossed the Israel-Lebanon border with hundreds of drones and rockets.
Hezbollah leader refuted Israel’s claim that it knew about the impending strike in a live speech. Hassan Nasrallah denied assertions by the Israeli army that the missile launchers belonging to the Lebanese organization had been destroyed. According to Nasrallah, the group’s assault was carried out in vengeance for Fuad Shukr’s death in an Israeli attack on Lebanese capital in July.
