The most defenseless members of community have been on their own ever since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan three years ago. Due to the Taliban’s widespread violations of civil rights, particularly those of female community, almost all foreign assistance groups have fled the country in recent years.
Due to a number of legislative and administrative initiatives put forth by the Taliban, the females across the country are deprived of their fundamental entitlements on the basis of religious excuses. The group has been barred from accessing university studies, forced out of workplaces, and had their high schools shuttered. The United Nations‘ proposal to engage with the Taliban without any female involvement has offended almost all Afghan women, both domestically and internationally.
Responding to a United Nations proposal, Taliban delegates held meetings with officials from a series of nations and global entities in Qatari capital. The purpose of the gathering was to talk about the country’s direction. The Taliban spokesperson clarified before the summit even started that those female rights is a local issue for Afghanistan and is not a subject of discussion in Qatar. At an interview in Afghanistan capital on July 3, Zabihullah Mujahid stressed that the group won’t lift restrictions on women and women’s education. He believed that other nations have to recognize the morals and cultural beliefs of the country.
Afghan Interests
According to US ambassador, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, female issues are not considered a private Afghan issue. Rosemary DiCarlo added that “we wanted to engage in conversation with the Taliban, and we had to start somewhere.” According to DiCarlo, the Doha conference marked the beginning of a methodical procedure. The objective, she said, was for the Taliban to exist in harmony with the surrounding countries and respect the global settlements, the UN Charter, and the principles of human rights.
The Taliban are pushing for the lifting of economic restrictions against them as well as for the worldwide legitimacy of their rule. Their objective is to obtain access to American-frozen Afghani assets. The country of Afghanistan is currently experiencing an acute financial crisis as a consequence of global sanctions, bank account freezing, and the exodus of highly qualified individuals. Almost all Afghans, according to the United Nations, are currently living in destitution.
Some people in Afghanistan think that the international world should handle issues brought on by the elites’ poor leadership and incompetence. The interests of world powers are threatened by the Taliban, and the Afghan nation is paying the price for it. However, if the Taliban honor their pledges to the global society, it won’t happen. The people of Afghanistan need to run their own initiatives. Women are leading the charge in this endeavor. All scholars, critics, and rights activists are being urged by to unite and plan more potent internal opposition against the Taliban.
