Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials cast their votes today in early hours of this Friday.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei cast his vote early in the morning of this Friday at 08:00 local time in the 14th presidential election. Khamenei then spoke to the reporters from across the world who reached themselves to Tehran to broadcast Iran’s presidential election.
“Election day is a day of joy and happiness for us Iranians, especially when the election is for the selection of the president,” Iran’s Supreme Leader said.
Asserting that the future of the country will be determined by this choice of the people,” Khamenei also said that “in my opinion, the enthusiastic presence of the people and the increase in the number of voters is even more important as it is a definite need for the Islamic Republic.”
Further explaining that the durability and the reputation of the Islamic Republic in the world depend on the presence of the people, he invited all Iranians to not hesitate and turn out for the election. “I hope, God willing, that the Almighty will help us choose the best person for this country, and that the coming years will be good and favorable years for Iran,” Khamenei concluded.
In addition to Iran’s Supreme Leader, some other top officials and political figures went to the polling stations in the early hours of Friday to cast their votes. According to Iran’s Ministry of Interior, a total of 61 million 172 thousand 298 persons are eligible to vote, of which 30 million 945 thousand 133 are men and 30 million 227 thousand 165 are women.
