Iran’s presidential election began this Friday and Iranians will know their new president in a few days.
Iran’s presidential election began this Friday morning across the country and Iranians are now voting to elect their preferred president. In a statement this Friday morning, Iran’s Ministry of Interior, a body responsible for the sound holding of elections, said that 58,640 polling stations are available throughout the country for the Iranian people to reach and cast their ballot.
Only in Tehran, more than 150,000 people have been appointed as executive, supervisory, and security agents and representatives of election candidates to guarantee the soundness and security of the election.
The Ministry of Interior also noted in its Friday statement that people above 18 in and outside of Iran are eligible to vote, and that it is a requirement for participants to bring their national identity card with them to the polling stations for authentication.
Masoud Pezeshkian, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Saeed Jalili, and Mostafa Pourmohammadi are the 4 final candidates for the 14th presidential election.
Tehran has the most polling stations for Friday’s election
Alireza Fakhari, the governor of Tehran said of the holding of the 14th presidential election that during the time leading up to the election, “plans have been made to witness a good, and prosperous election with the enthusiastic participation of the people.” he also noted that “150,000 people will be active in the supervisory, executive, security, service, and infrastructure areas of the presidential election in Tehran province.”
“We have no worries about holding the presidential election today. Tehran province has the largest number of polling stations in the country, and in the presidential election today, 6,694 polling stations have been organized at the provincial level, of which 6,202 are fixed polling stations and the rest are mobile,” Fakhri said.
