A new survey revealed this Friday that most British young people believe Israel shouldn’t exist anymore after raging war against Palestinians for over 8 months.
According to the results of a recently conducted survey revealed this Friday, the majority of young people in the United Kingdom believe that Israel “should not exist” following its brutal war against Palestinian in the Gaza Strip.
“An astonishing 54 percent of individuals aged 18 to 24 thought the existence of the state of Israel was unwarranted. Only 21 percent held the opposing view,” the survey, which was carried out by UnHerd, revealed.
In a separate question, young respondents were asked who was more to blame for the war in Gaza. Half blamed the Israeli government, while a quarter answered Hamas. Only 19% responded “all equally”.
As the survey revealed, most young people in the UK also believe that their country should withdraw from its involvement in the Gaza War. “Of those surveyed, 27 percent advocate for a firmer stance against Israel, while 12 percent suggest a tougher approach towards the Palestinians. However, 35 percent of respondents believe that the UK should abstain from assuming any role in the conflict,” the survey said.
As the was in Gaza enters its eighth month, public opinion around the word has unprecedentedly shifted against Israel and in Palestine’s favor. According to another newly carried out poll, popular support for Israel was at its highest shortly after the 7 October attacks at 21%, but this figure has since fallen quite drastically. Although young people were most skeptical of Israel before the attack, the overall level of support for the Jewish state over the same time frame has plummeted to 16%, according to YouGov figures.
Like the British, American people also largely disapprove Israel!
When it comes to disapproving Israel’s war crimes in Gaza, the same is true about the American people. According to one new poll carried out this past May, nearly one-third of American Jews agree with accusations that Israel committed “genocide” in the Gaza Strip, and 60 per cent support the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.
A Gallup poll also revealed that only 36 percent of US nationals approve of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, while 55 percent disapprove it.
A report by the Hill also revealed that US President Joe Biden’s support for Israel has kind of turned Americans against the Democratic president. President Biden is losing support among some of his core constituents — young voters and people of color — in no small measure owing to his unwavering support for Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza,” the report said.
The report further noted that by vigorously denouncing the International Criminal Court after its prosecutor called for arrest warrants to be issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden “has just taken another step in risking not only his own presidency but the future of American democracy.”
Since last 7 October, Israel has launched a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 36,400 Palestinians, the vast majority of whom being women and children.
