Israel’s response to Iran’s missiles and drones attack last week was so little and insufficient that it was more like a slap in its own face than a move to strengthen deterrence against Tehran.
Last week on Saturday, Israel carried out an attack against Iran, targeting the city of Isfahan with a number of small drones. US officials confirmed that Israel did conduct the attack and it was a response to Iran’s last week missiles and drones attack on Israel.
But while Iran rarely leaves an Israel attack unanswered, be it a first attack or a response to a previous attack by Iran, officials from Tehran said that the country had no “immediate” plan for retaliation against Israel’s Saturday move in Isfahan.
And this has one single reason; Compared to Iran’s massive missiles and drones attack on Israel, Israel’s response was nothing. Iran’s attack on Israel was one of a kind, simply because it was the first time in history that Iran has launched a direct offensive against Israel. Iran targeted Israel’s key Nevatim and Ramon air bases precisely, despite the spectacular display of lights from intercepted decoy explosions that lit up the skies.
Compared to Iran’s attack, Israel’s was nothing!
Addressing the matter this Wednesday, The Cradle noted in an analytical report that in the recent strategic game between Iran and Israel, the latter was the big loser because this recent event, i.e. Iran’s missiles and drones attack on Israel and then Israel’s response through a vague and mild attack on Isfahan greatly reduced Israel’s deterrent power against its main rival in the region.
The report further compares these two attacks and explains that Iran’s attack was completely decisive and devastating, and like said above, it was the first time in history that Iran directly targeted Israel. After the attack, Iran’s military and political authorities stated without hesitation that Iran had carried out this offensive. But in response, Israel’s attack was a very mild and vague attack, and no Israeli authorities or media accepted responsibility for it.
“No Iranian official tried to deny the responsibility of the attack. On the contrary, officials in Tehran confidently claimed one after another that it was Iran who did the attack and that it utilized only a fraction of its military capabilities,” the report noted. “however, Israel officials and media were all quite mute after the attack,” the report also added.
What makes Israel’s attack look even more stupid and as a slap in the face is that Israel has nuclear weapons and Iran does not. This is while the common sense in the realm of international politics says that when a country possesses nuclear weapons, no other country dares to attack its territory.
Mocking Israel’s scale of response to Iran’s massive attack, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in an interview with NBC News this week that the Israeli drones attack was trivial, likening them to “toys that our children play with.”
“As long as there is no new adventurism by Israel against our interests, then we are not going to have any new reactions,” he also said.
