After more than five months since the Gaza war started on October 7, Israeli people are now joining the Israeli army in the efforts to wipe out Palestinians from their own lands.
More than five months after the war between Israel and Hamas started back on October 7, Israeli people now have joined the Israeli military in its efforts to ethnic cleansing Palestinians by expanding illegal settlements, buying more and more guns, and declare open season by randomly hunting Palestinian men, women, and children.
According to a recently published report by Aljazeera, from mid-September to the end of January, Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank area have illegally constructed at least 15 outposts,18 roads, and hundreds of meters of fences and multiple roadblocks.
This unprecedented expansion of settlements done by the Israeli people themselves is not only against international rules and regulations, but it is also a violation of Israel’s own law. the tricky method to later legalize the settlements at least under Israel’s law is to retroactively ask Israeli courts to authorize the buildings once the number of settlers living in them has grown to a considerable number.
Thanks to this illegal method of expansionism, more than 700,000 illegal Israeli settlers currently live in the occupied West Bank. But the start of the war has accelerated this trend like never before.
“When there is a war, that is when settlers take advantage and try to establish as many outposts as they can,” Mauricio Lapchik, an activist with Peace Now said in an interview with Aljazeera.
More illegal settlements, more random attacks against Palestinians!
The increase in the number of illegal settlements by Israeli people has resulted in an increase in attacks by Jewish settlers against Palestinians, with the former seeking to expel the latter from their own lands.
According to a figure published by the United Nations, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank have been five hundred and seventy-three subject to random attacks by Jewish settlers in the Palestinian lands. Thanks to this open season on Palestinians with Israeli forces accompanying the settlers in the attacks half the time, at least 90 Palestinians have been killed only in the first week after October 7.
In early November last year, Aljazeera reported that five days after 7 October, dozens of settlers arrived at the village of Wadi al-Siq, home to about 180 people. They were dressed in military fatigues, heavily armed, and escorted by the police. The scene resulted in the killing of a whole family of 17 by the Jewish settlers.
Israeli people now have their own guns to kill Palestinians!
In every step towards ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, the Israeli government has been fully supporting extremist Jews. Granting Israeli people to have their own guns, for example, is one of such cases of support. In this regard, Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said after approving 100,000 gun licenses since 7 October that Israel is now safer.
Speaking to reporters this Monday, Ben Gvir said that “this week we reached a milestone at the National Security Ministry: the 100,000th citizen received his firearms license,”
“Out of 299,354 applications submitted since the war … more than 100,000 citizens have already been approved to arm themselves because weapons save lives,” he also noted, adding that “the dimensions of the [7 October] disaster were less” in places where “civilians could protect themselves.”
But this is only the tip of the iceberg because according to Israeli media reports, thousands more of the requests for gun permits have been granted illegally since October 7, with the Israeli government having done nothing yet to stop the process.
