Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rebuked the world this Sunday for pressuring Israel to end the war in Gaza and accept peace before Israel achieves its goals.
This Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the international community directly during his speech in the Knesset and strongly criticized world’s demands from Israel to end its conflict with Hamas and make peace before Israel’s war objectives have been achieved.
Speaking during the weekly cabinet meeting in the Knesset on Sunday morning, Netanyahu said that “no amount of international pressure will stop us from realizing all the goals of the war: eliminating Hamas, releasing all our hostages, and ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat against Israel. So we must not give in to these pressures, and we will not give in to them.”
He also rebuked the idea of early election in Israel, a demand that has been growing in the past few weeks from both inside and outside of Israel. “Those who want to stop the war do so by making false accusations against the IDF, against the Israeli government and against the prime minister of Israel. They do this by trying to bring about elections now, in the midst of the war,” Netanyahu said.
It was last week that US Senate Majority Chuck Schumer, a Jewish Democrat and strong supporter of Israel, called for holding early election in Israel to replace Netanyahu. Schumer said Netanyahu has “lost his way” and was an “obstacle to peace” amid Israel’s ongoing mass killing and starving of Palestinians in Gaza.
The Israeli Prime Minister then desperately turned to Israel’s allies in the international community and asked them to not forget what he called “the terrible massacre” against Jews on October 7. “Is your memory so short? Did you forget so quickly October 7, the most terrible massacre committed against Jews since the Holocaust? Are you so quickly ready to deny Israel the right to defend itself against the monsters of Hamas? Did you lose your moral conscience so quickly?” Netanyahu noted.
No intention to listen to the world’s demands!
Ignoring the demand for peace in Gaza even by Israel’s most strategic allies, Netanyahu promised to continue the war until complete destruction of Hamas, which Israel thinks will happen by invading Rafah city.
“Those who say that the operation in Rafah will not happen are the same ones who said that we will not enter Gaza, that we will not operate in Shifa, that we will not operate in Khan Yunis, and that we will not resume fighting after the [weeklong November] ceasefire,” Netanyahu claimed, adding that the invasion “will take a few weeks, and it will happen.”
Last week on Saturday, US President Joe Biden criticized Netanyahu for his Rafah invasion plan and asserted that he “is hurting Israel more than helping it,” demanding Netanyahu to not attack Rafah.
Challenging Biden’s assessment of Israel’s military strategy in Gaza, Netanyahu responded to Biden a day later and said that his policies represented what the “overwhelming majority” of Israelis wanted. “I don’t know exactly what the president meant, but if he meant by that that I’m pursuing private policies against the majority, the wish of the majority of Israelis, and that this is hurting the interests of Israel, then he’s wrong on both counts,” Netanyahu said.
Invading Rafah by Israel is especially a growing concern because more than one million Palestinians are currently living there and Israel’s attack on the city will surely create a blood bath.
