Despite US President Joe Biden has said many times since October 7 that he wants the war between Israel and Hamas ends as soon as possible, his administration is now planning to fuel Israel’s war machine by preparing thousands of bombs to be delivered to Tel Aviv.
According to a new report released by the Wall Street Journal this Saturday, the Biden administration is planning to fuel the Israeli war machine in Gaza by preparing a military package worth ‘tens of millions of dollars’ to send to Israel.
The war-escalating decision was taken in Washington while since October 7 when the war between Israel and Hamas erupted, many officials in the White House, including Joe Biden himself, have asserted that they want peace between the war parties and have made many efforts to make it happen.
“The Biden administration is preparing to send bombs and other weapons to Israel that would add to its military arsenal,” the report noted.
“The proposed arms delivery includes roughly a thousand each of MK-82 bombs, KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munitions that add precision guidance to bombs, and FMU-139 bomb fuses. The arms are estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars. The proposed delivery is still being reviewed internally by the administration, and the details of the proposal could change before the Biden administration notifies congressional committee leaders who would need to approve the transfer,” the report added.
Citing current and former US officials, the WSJ reported that while publicly asking Israel to kill fewer Palestinians during its military operations, Blinken and Biden have been staunch supporters of Israel’s military, refusing to set any red lines on the use of US weapons. Blinken has indeed twice used emergency measures since October 7 to bypass congressional review to send weapons to Israel amid its war with Hamas.
No plan from Washington to stop Israel’s tragic scenario in Rafah
To make matters worse, a report by Politico revealed this week that Washington has no intention or plan to confront Israel in the event of an Israeli ground attack on Rafah, and Israeli officials plan to take advantage of this US silence and launch a ground attack on Gaza’s southern city as soon as possible, where more than one and a half million Palestinians currently live.
Israel has already begun its air attacks against Palestinians in Rafah, and plans to carry out a massive ground invasion to the city in the coming days.
Israel claims Rafah is where many Hamas fighters have taken shelter and to beat the group to the ground, it is vital to attack Rafah from air and land.
And although several countries have issued statements expressing serious concern over the severe humanitarian threat posed by Israel’s plans to invade Rafah, the Biden administration has been quite silent in this regard, pursuing the dual policy of saying no to the war on the one hand, and providing Israel with more weapons to expand its invasion to Rafah on the other hand.
