In the midst of weeks of rising aggression and concerns in the area, Iran has carried out an unprecedented strike against Israel, releasing a torrent of cruise missiles toward the Tel Aviv and other cities. The killings of senior IRGC, Hamas, and Hezbollah figures, in addition to the fatal Israeli strikes against civilians in Gaza and Lebanese south, prompted Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to say on Tuesday night that it had launched missiles at Israeli targets.
Israel was alerted on Tuesday night when projectiles struck towns and cities of significance across the country. Tel Aviv and Washington, the country’s closest partner, claimed that their armies coordinated to bring down the majority of Iran’s around 200 missiles.
Israel has released no information about the potential casualties caused by the Tuesday night strikes. The IRGC has released a statement in which it has reaffirmed its former positions that any attacks by Israel will not go unresponded. The statement also stressed that any response by Israel to the Tuesday attack will receive more attacks by Iran.
