As Israel’s airstrikes in Gaza still continue to claim the lives of Palestinians, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called on Muslim countries this Wednesday to cease oil and food exports to Israel.
In a speech in Tehran this Wednesday morning, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei rebuked Israel’s non-stop airstrikes against Palestinians in Gaza and called on all Muslim states to restore to real action by boycotting their export of oil and food to the Jewish regime.
Demanding an immediate end to the Israeli bombardment in Gaza, the Iranian Supreme Leader also noted that “the bombings on Gaza must stop immediately … the path of oil and food exports to the Zionist regime should be stopped.”
Referring to the pro-Palestinian protests that happened around the world during last week, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei suggested that the “people of Gaza have mobilized the public’s conscience by their patience.”
“Look at what’s happening in the world. In the UK, France, Italy, and the US, many people came out to the street and chanted slogans against Israel and the United States. They have lost their credibility and really, there is no remedy for them as they cannot justify Israel’s attack,” Khamenei said.
He also blamed the Western powers for their full support of Israel even despite all the crimes that Israeli forces have so far committed in Gaza. “The world of Islam shouldn’t forget in the case of Gaza it was the US, France, and the UK that stood against the oppressed people of Gaza, it wasn’t just the Zionist regime,” Khamenei also noted.
The situation in Gaza gets worse day by day. Israel has promised to wipe out Hamas, the armed group that rules Gaza and carried out an attack on October 7 that Israel says killed 1,405 people and saw hundreds taken as hostages.
But Israel has been way brutal in reacting to the attack and has launched an unprecedented bombardment of Gaza as well as imposing a siege on the enclave. Palestinian authorities say almost 8,800 people have been killed so far, nearly 5 times more than what Israel claims to have lost.
Other Iranian top officials echoed the same concerns
A day earlier on Tuesday, Iran’s top diplomat Hossein Amirabdollahian said “it is natural that the resistance groups and movements do not remain silent against all these crimes” committed by Israel.
“They will not wait for anyone’s advice, therefore we need to use the last political opportunities to stop the war,” he continued, warning the situation could “get out of control” if Israel continues to carry out its deadly airstrikes against people in Gaza.
Ali Akbar Velayati, the senior advisor to the Leader of Iran also condemned the Western powers’ support for Israel and noted that Israel’s genocide in Gaza will not last even a single day “without the support of the United States and European countries.”
Describing the United States as the “main accomplice to the crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza”, Velayati Also added that Washington’s unwavering political, diplomatic, media, and financial support, as well as military, security, and defense backing to Israel, are the main factors” behind the regime’s survival.
