The living condition in Gaza Strip has deteriorated since the offensives with Israeli troops last May. This is while international mediators vowed a series of commitments, mainly lifting the blockade, in the ceasefire agreement.
The circumstance in the Gaza Strip is far from imaginable. The residents in Gaza have ran out of the capacity to endure their incessant suffering. Besides, the resistance groups cannot keep the cease-fire on the conditions agreed by the Israeli assailants forever.
The obvious fact is that the intermediaries have failed to meet the integrity of the ceasefire commitments. Tel Aviv’s steadfast reluctance to relieve the unlawful 14-year blockade is the main and basic violation of the commitments.
Ex-American President Jimmy Carter once described the condition in Gaza strip as a ‘region of slow death’, unsuitable for mankind. The borders are blocked, and people receive no reliable energy supplies. Lack of safe healthy water and shortages in medicine supplies has exacerbated the living condition.
Due to the Israeli construction of a border wall, the Gaza Strip has turned to an actual prison. Emergent medical assistance, particularly to tumor sufferers, has become impossible. The litany of limits and constraints appears to be unending, and there it is.
Following the offensives last May, the condition in the Palestinian regions remained awful with no change in living conditions. Palestinian people who live in the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem, and the West Bank expected for the realization of vows that never took place.
The grounds for that brief but deadly conflict remain relevant, as assaults by Israel on Jerusalem keeps happening since then. Unlawful settlers defile Al-Aqsa, while assaults on the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood have increased regularly. The Israeli civilians in the region are confident by an Israeli judge’s order that declared the region a Jewish neighborhood.
Gaza Strip; Long Suffering
Far from failing to meet the agreement terms, Israel intensified hostility against Palestine. As a result, struggles to the ‘tyranny’ spiked on the Palestinian side. At least one Palestinian dies in his homeland every day while the agenda has proved to be ethnic cleansing. Home demolitions in Jerusalem, and the seizing of properties on the outskirts further advance the agenda.
Palestinian Authority suffices with reiterating its routine of repudiation and verbal criticism in the wake of this brutality and violence. It overlooks the fact that the global society is complicit in the occupation. The PA also easily ignores the reality that the Oslo Accords are to blame for suffocating resistance and oppressing it instead of containing the threats posed by Israel.
The outcome of these developments was the Palestinians’ decision to review the truce that Israel utilized against its people. They also held the mediators accountable for treason against the people in Palestine. There is no doubt that Israel had no plan to lift the blockade even on the signature day. All parties bear a heavy burden as a result of this. This entails a serious decision; accepting the current status quo or starting a new cause against Israel.
An implosive catastrophe in Gaza Strip is imminent, and Tel Aviv can’t help bearing the responsibility for repercussions. This is evident because Israel continues to let over 2 million people experience a gradual death.
Considering the current situation, any small instigation could lead to historic explosions in Gaza Strip. More pressure from outside may lead to more unity inside the Palestinian factions. That would be a spot to turn implosion into explosion for which Israel may have to pay the highest price. Negligence, violence, blockade, and fury can make history in any part of the world.
