New wave of attacks on Gaza occur while Palestinian people have committed no instigating move in the past months.
Israel kicked off the long-expected offensive against Palestinian people in Gaza strip. Israel planned its onslaught on Gaza for weeks and did it intentionally to gather support from the people as it prepares for fresh elections in short months. At least Ten Palestinians were killed by Israeli missile strikes on the Palestinian territories under blockade yesterday. The figure included a five-year-old girl, a mother, and a head of Islamic Jihad’s military arm.
The Islamic Jihad organization announced that in response to the airstrikes, it launched over 100 missiles into Israeli soils. Following few months over a year after the Ramadan battle that claimed over 260 lives, the unrest fueled concerns that Israel will attack Gaza once more.
An analyst from a Qatari Institute stated that everyone is anxious, and there is no hunger for conflict any more. “Gaza has witnessed four or five major conflicts over the last 15 years. We’re still talking about the reconstruction of Gaza Strip. Gaza has never really recovered, it just lives from conflict to conflict,” Tamer Qarmout told reporters.
Earlier this week, Israeli troops detained Bassam al-Saadi, a major figure of the armed organization. The move led to Israel’s lethal assault. Through an Israeli operation in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, where a youngster was slain, al-Saadi was taken into custody.
Israel had already been imposing a severe siege on the region for one and a half decade. It has reinforced its control by closing all security checkpoints and restricting any international assistance.
In preparation for a Palestinian retaliation after al-Saadi detention, Israel also restricted highways surrounding Gaza. Tel Aviv also dispatched forces to the borderline fearing harsh response by popular factions.
Gaza; Victim to Israeli Politics
Following earlier assaults, involving drone attacks on the same regions, Friday’s incident has led some analysts believe that the latest series of tensions are planned measures. Assaults by both settlers and troops pf Israel in the West Banks have increased throughout the past weeks. The range of Israeli violence also extends to the intensification of Palestinian detentions and house destruction.
Tel Aviv is equipping its settlers with military arms so they may fire and murder Palestinians without following the military disciplinary rulings. Therefore, what we are currently witnessing is a stepping up of Israeli terror and thunder military tactic.
Israeli elections will take place in November, and Israeli authorities have a history of using Gaza as a rallying point for the Israeli settler community. Experts stated that Israel’s determination to initiate what may turn out to be yet another war is being driven by many electoral factors.
The Israeli government is attempting to seem aggressive as another election season approaches. It turns to be a practically every-summertime condition. In the next vote, Likud Party, led by ex-PM Benjamin Netanyahu, is expected to make a comeback.
Additionally, it occurred as the US was preparing for its midterms. The Biden White House will be less inclined to order Israel to stop its assaults while a result of certain modest legislative triumphs that have helped the Democrats gain support. Washington does not hold Tel Aviv responsible for the atrocities like the Friday massacre of a young girl and other innocent citizens.
Contrary to most countries in the world, politicians in Israel have to prove themselves to the people before a vote through war, and not peace. This might be explained through a look into the nature of the creation and existence of Israel in its seven-decade history.
