The Palestinian great escape is far from belief for those who read the news in the media outlets. The families are paying for the six prisoners who escaped through a tunnel.
Israeli authorities are detaining families of Palestinian inmates following their great escape a jail in Israel. According to Addameer, Israeli troops arrested more than 7 people with close family relationships with the escaped prisoners.
Zakaria is one of the inmates who managed to escape from Israeli Prison two days ago. His uncle says the family was expecting Israeli forces to assault at any moment.
Israeli soldiers had demolished Zakaria’s family house two times, and only few male members evaded detainment following the Palestinian great escape. At one time, when Israeli troops attempted to murder him, Zakaria’s mother lost her life by a gunshot. The main target suffered major injuries on his arm and face.
In another case, Israeli troops invaded and damaged the family house of Ayham Kamamji, 35, in a village near Jenin before daybreak a day later. Mr. Kamamji’s father was detained in the assault. The family say Israeli forces took the father to an Israeli army facility and grilled him about his son’s location.
Following a search on family house near Jenin, brothers to two more runaways also face detainment. Furious over their failure to catch the six fugitives, Tel Aviv officials had already banned Islamic Jihad inmates from interacting with one another and imposed other restrictions.
“It starts as a dream that one will be able to dig a tunnel with a spoon and escape to freedom. While most of us don’t achieve this, these guys managed to do it in an Israeli prison where often the security conditions are tougher than in American jails,” a former Palestinian prisoners said about the Palestinian great escape.
The Palestinian Great Escape
Six Palestinian detainees escaped from a prison center in northern Israel in an extra-ordinary way. The Israeli security’s search for the escapees were all futile since then.
The inmates broke out of the Gilboa prison, one of most secure prisons in Israel with tight profile. The Palestinian great escape occurred early on Monday when the guards were asleep.
Officials reported that the search operation included police forces, military, and officers from Israeli formidable domestic security service, Shin Bet. The officials used Sniffer dogs to track the escapees and the region is under checkpoint control.
According to local sources, the inmates fled through a tunnel with the assistance of outsiders. The tunnel looked was dug from behind a lavatory within the cell, which was potentially shared by the prisoners. The inmates slipped out of the prison through the tunnel leading them outside the walls.
The super-escape has had only precedent in movies. The staff at the prison were shocked to see the tunnel while no advanced digging equipment was at hand.
Zakariye Zubeidi, an ex-prominent Fatah leader chief in Jenin, a northern city of West Bank, was among the detainees. The five other escapees were Palestinian Islamic Jihad members with main roles in 2000 Palestinian Intifada.
Mahmoud Abdullah Ardah, Yaqoub Mahmoud Qadri, Monadel Yacoub Nafe’at, Ayham Nayef Kamamji, and Yaqoub Qassem, were the other prisoners. Four escapees were serving a life sentence in the prison.
The escapees may have headed to Jenin, over which the PA has some control. Besides, Palestinian people have clashed with Israeli troops in Jenin over the past weeks, a good haven for the six prisoners who finds large security forces behind themselves.
Isreal, still in shock of the great Palestinian escape, has made little response on the media through the past days.
